If you love Eileen Gu for her freestyles on the slopes, you’re about to love her more for her take on fashion. The Olympic skier who doubles as a model and is currently the face of Tiffany & Co’s knot jewelry alongside Kim Kardashian opened up about her personal life to Conde Nast Traveler.
Vacation In Nanshan
The San Francisco-born Chinese skier can’t wait to return to the Chongli, Nanshan for the 2023 Winter Olympics. She spoke fondly of her childhood training in the Ski lodge with legendary Dr. Lu Jian.
Admitting that the picturesque scenery in Nanshan isn’t the only draw for her, Eileen said, “the biggest point of difference is the community. Everyone is so supportive. We are such a small niche group.” There’s only more selling point for the Olympian in Nanshan, and it’s the fashion.
Fashion In Beijing
Taking a 45 minutes tube from Nanshan to Beijing, the Chinese-American skier joins the crowd in Sanlihe Park for mini-festivals. She called the park “a place where people dress up.” She’d put on her symbolic Tiffany and Co. knot choker and join the fashionistas to dance and parade some of her affiliate brands, including Michael Kors and Chanel.
Eileen’s go-to style for a night out in the city is Ski Chic – a cream-colored long-sleeved turtleneck, matching Chanel knee-length boots, and Louis Vuitton Ski glasses.
Connection To Her Mother’s Land
Being born to an American father and a Chinese mother sure has its perks because Eileen represents China in the Olympics. According to the Olympic skier, her intention to “inspire millions of young people where [her] mom was born” and “promote the sport [she] loves” prompted her choice.
The 18-year-old is breaking boundaries at such a young age and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Eileen Gu wears her mixed heritage with pride, so much so she taught her team how to prepare traditional Chinese dumplings.
Going For Gold
Eileen ended the halfpipe World Cup undefeated, winning a Crystal globe, and she celebrated her win on the gram. “So unbelievably hyped to end the halfpipe World Cup szn undefeated and with my first Crystal globe!” she wrote. “Feeling really proud to have landed probably my best contest run ever during my second run.” Then she prompted fans to swipe through her post to see the groundbreaking run.
