When the New York Knicks traded for Cam Reddish, fans and insiders alike felt like it was just a matter of time before the former Atlanta Hawks player broke out as the explosive scorer most thought he'd be.
But Reddish has barely seen the floor at Madison Square Garden and was even rumored to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the deadline.
Thibodeau Didn't Want The Knicks To Trade For ReddishThis was supposed to be a rebirth for Reddish, who struggled with injuries and inconsistency in Atlanta's stacked rotation.
But apparently, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau didn't even want the team to trade for him, which is why he's unlikely to crack his tight, inflexible rotation:
“From my understanding, Thibs didn’t want him and they did it anyway,’’ a source told the New York Post.Reddish Feels He Should Be A No. 1 OptionMoreover, it doesn't seem like this is going to work as Reddish won't hesitate to express his frustration.
Apparently, that was a usual sight during his days with the Hawks:
“It goes beyond wanting more minutes,’’ the source said. “Cam thinks he should be the No. 1 option on any team. It’s good to be confident, but there was feelings he wanted things handed to him.’’Maybe There's A Bigger Plan? But, maybe, Leon Rose wasn't thinking about this season at all. Instead, it was all a part of a bigger plan to lure Zion Williamson to the Big Apple, as he'd join Duke teammates Reddish and RJ Barrett:
"As corny as it sounds, the fear of missing out while his close friends try to build something together in New York almost definitely has Zion Williamson giving some serious side-eye at what the Knicks have done. The man has openly admitted that the Big Apple also happens to be his favorite city to visit and play in (outside of New Orleans, supposedly)," reported ClutchPoints. "Now with Zion yet to play a single game midway into his third season, and tensions slowly starting to manifest itself between star and franchise, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that trade discussions come in the future."Knicks Will Focus On The Buyout MarketThe Knicks are still in the hunt for a playoff berth but haven't fared as well as they did last season.
Also, they failed to strike a deal ahead of the deadline, and will now focus their attention on the buyout market.
The likes of Dennis Schroder and Goran Dragic make sense for a team lacking playmaking, so keep an eye on the Knicks in the next couple of days as they look to revamp their roster.
