Darius Leonard Shares Key Injury Update On The Pat McAfee Show

Pat McAfee continues to have all the inside scoop about almost everything that happens in the NFL. Once again, he got way ahead of his colleagues by reporting something no one knew about.

Apparently, Indianapolis Colts star Darius Leonard underwent a 'mysterious' ankle injury in the offseason, and now his status for the start of the season is up in the air.

McAfee Explains Leonard's Injury

According to McAfee, Leonard struggled with lingering pain and functioning ankle issues. However, it was all due to a nerve in his back, which is why he had to undergo the procedure right away:

"He had an ankle-functioning issue, not injury issue. That had been lingering, and they couldn't figure out what it was," McAfee said on his show. "So they did an ankle test. Turns out, through tests and scans and multiple opinions, he had a nerve in his back that was pinched and affecting his ankle. The reason this is good news is because they found out what was going on with his ankle."He'll Be Back Better Than Ever

Leonard had been struggling with this for quite some time, yet he still had one of the best campaigns of his career, so one can only wonder what he'll be capable of now that he'll be healthy:

"The procedure on Tuesday was to address the nerve issue and to ultimately provide Darius Leonard with a full functioning and healthy ankle, something Leonard didn’t have in a Defensive Player of the Year-worthy 2021 campaign," reported Jaleel Grandberry of Fansided.Leonard Thanks The Fans For Their Concerns

Needless to say, the news worried Colts fans left and right, which is why he took to Twitter to let everybody know there's nothing to be worried about.

“Surgery went well, feeling amazing and ready to get back going! If you know me you know I always come back way better than I was! Let’s go man ankle feels amazing and can’t wait to get back moving! Thanks for the texts and calls!” Leonard tweeted. His Coach Isn't Worried At All

Also, even though we don't know when he'll be back on the field, HC Frank Reich isn't worried about him at all:

"Not sure on the timetable now, but in my mind, as long as he's ready for the regular season, I'm not concerned," Reich told Olivia Ray.

Leonard is one of the best defensive players in the league, and he wasn't even at full strength, so the best is yet to come for him.
