The New York Times crowned the athlete “the queen of nose-riding” because of her flawless maneuver of the ocean’s waves when surfing.

She maneuvered the wave effortlessly, letting her brown hair blow around her face while her hands moved with the ocean. She told Salt and Snow that the beach is her favorite place, especially where there’s a great point break. The longboard also made it on her must-have list of things when traveling,
Starting With Her DadMeador’s father was a professional surfer, too, and watching him ride the wave influenced her to learn the sport. They spent summers together at the beach, and she later enrolled with Junior Lifeguards for more hands-on learning about the sport.
She advised new surfers to make friends in the community and have fun while doing it. In her words,
“Know you’re going to fall, have fun with it, and remember it takes a lifetime to master.”Starting Her BusinessAfter retiring from professional surfing, Kassia started a surf gear brand under her name. She built the brand in 2015 after two years of retirement. The brand is about women’s empowerment, and she shows it by hiring them on her team.
They’re also an environmentally conscious brand that recycles wetsuits and encourages customers to join in the ocean preservation practice. This summer, the businesswoman released a new collection, La Luna, and another collaboration with Slow Tide making eco-friendly ponchos.
Surfing As A Form Of Self-ExpressionMeadors believes surfing is a way for athletes to express themselves. She calls it,
“a beautiful dance and opportunity to express your fully unique and infinite nature.”Then she added that each surfer is unique and shouldn’t try to be like any other person. Meador advised that they move passionately on the water as she did during her longboarding days. That’s the surest way to stand out in a crowd of many surfers, and the same rules apply to other professionals.
