Pete Rose made history, left lasting mark during brief stint with Expos

Montreal Expos player Pete Rose watches the ball while running to first base against the Philadelphia Phillies following his 4,000th major league hit on April 13, 1984 in Montreal.

The late Pete Rose wasn’t with the Expos for long, but his brief presence provided Montreal fans with a historic moment. One of his 72 hits in the 1984 season was No. 4,000, making him just the second player to reach the milestone alongside Ty Cobb.
