Bridgerton fans, rejoice! A second season of the beloved Netflix series, which began airing its first season in December 2020, is on its way.
According to a report from Esquire on January 19, fans will soon be reunited with the popular characters of the drama, which is based around the life of Daphne Bridgerton, the oldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, who is played by actress Phoebe Dynevor (via IMDb), as she enters the dating pool of the Regency London.
When Will 'Bridgerton' Season 2 Be Released?
Bridgerton, which is based on romance novels written by Julia Quinn, will debut its second season on Netflix on March 25, 2022. However, hardcore fans of the series likely knew that a Season 2 was coming. After all, the official renewal happened just one month after the Season 1 premiere.
According to Esquire, it’s unclear if everyone from Season 1 will be back for Season 2. However, judging by the Season 2 trailer, which Netflix released on YouTube in September, a lot of cast members have returned.
What Is The Plot Of 'Bridgerton' Season 2?
Because Bridgerton is based on Quinn’s books, it’s fairly easy to predict what is to come and Season 2 will likely be based around the character of Anthony, who is played by Jonathan Bailey, the oldest of the Bridgerton children.
When fans last saw the character, the was fresh off of a stunning heartbreak and making it clear that when it came to his future efforts to find a wife, he wasn’t looking for rather love. Instead, he was going into it with a duty mindset. So, in terms of Season 2, fans will likely see Anthony pursuing a woman he believes will be good for his future — at least on paper.
Who Will Star In 'Bridgerton' Season 2?
Simone Ashley will join Bridgerton season two in the role of Kate Sharma.
While appearing on the Today show, creator and show-runner Chris Van Dusen addressed the casting.
“Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show. We left him at the end of the first season at a bit of a crossroads, so I’m looking forward to jumping in and discovering how he fares on the marriage market," he stated, via Deadline.
Charithra Chandran will also be featured as Edwina, who Netflix said “has been taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante."
"She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing. But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match," the network teased.
What Does The Future Hold For 'Bridgerton'?
Not only will Bridgerton be back for Season 2 — it will also be back for at least two more seasons, Season 3 and Season 4.
"Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda [Rhimes], knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come," Bela Bajaria, the vice present of global TV at Netflix, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
