Chloe Grace Moretz is pregnant in Hulu’s sci-fi flick Mother/Android and apparently, her movie pregnancy felt all too real.
The 24-year-old actress, who plays Georgia in the film, shared the lengths she had to go through to ensure her performance as a pregnant woman who is about to give birth will look realistic on-screen.
Taking her fake pregnancy seriously, the Kick-Ass star had a secret trick that helped make her portrayal compelling.
Scroll down to see what Chloe had to do.
Carrying A Fake Belly
Lugging a pregnant belly, albeit fake, was not easy for the young actress. Apparently, she had to train a little bit so her body can be prepared to carry around 20 pounds of extra weight.
"It was large, first of all. It was nine months, ready to burst," Moretz shared during an appearance at The Tonight Show.
"And it was 21 pounds of silicone… I had to start training a little bit beforehand because I was like ‘I don’t think I can tote 21 pounds of a load. That seems like a lot!"
She Wore This Secret Accessory
Taking it even further, Chloe wore a corset underneath the 21-pound fake belly to make her pregnancy feel even more realistic.
"We actually attached it to a corset. Because I really wanted to feel like… you know, with the pregnant woman running through the woods, they didn’t want me to be super agile and able to get through it perfectly."
"I wanted to have the shortness of breath and to have it feel realistic," Chloe explained.
Pregnancy Is Exhausting
In the movie, young couple Georgia (Chloe Moretz) and Sam (Algee Smith) find themself in the midst of a robot revolution. They have to navigate through the chaos and reach a safe place to deliver their baby.
Not only was she carrying around extra 20 pounds, she was also wearing a tight corset, while running around the woods. Chloe also shared in another interview that in their 29-day production, she had to shoot multiple scenes in one day, which was physically exhausting for her.
But, all the struggles made for a more realistic pregnancy on-screen!
Mental Challenges During Filming
It was also mentally challenging to be filming at a time of a pandemic, according to the actress, and to be making a movie that was so personal to director Mattson Tomlin.
Tomlin, who also wrote the story, based the film on his birth parents’ struggles during the Romanian Revolution.
The exciting movie will be released exclusively on Hulu on December 17. Watch the trailer below:
