Two cornerstones of the Trudeau government’s foreign policy have been its public statements in defence of human rights around the world and its less-publicized support for Israel at the United Nations. Now, a series of reports by the world’s leading human rights organizations accusing Israel of employing a policy of apartheid in its treatment of Palestinians have put the focus on the tension between those two positions.
