Cowboys’ Jalen Tolbert Poised For A Breakout Rookie Season

The Dallas Cowboys face a big challenge next season. They've been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL for more than a decade, and patience is running out within America's Team fan base.

Fortunately for them, it seems like they may have found a diamond in the rough in the Draft, as rookie Jalen Tolbert has been fairly impressive thus far.

He's Looking Forward To The Opportunity

With Cedrick Wilson's departure and Michael Gallup's injury, the third-round pick is expected to be a starter at least for the start of the season, and he won't shy away from that opportunity:

“I’m definitely excited for the opportunity that’s in front of me and just being able to go and compete and continue to do the thing that I love,” Tolbert said, as quoted by the Dallas Morning News. “A lot of people aren’t blessed to be able to play after college, and so I definitely have a special opportunity, and I’m looking forward to it.”CeeDee Lamb Took Him Under His Wing

Tolbert has been working out with fellow WR CeeDee Lamb, who's likely to be the focal point of the offense going forward. Also, he's giving him advice on how to make the transition to the pros:

“Yeah, I’ve definitely talked to [Lamb] and some of those guys about what they did their rookie year and [Lamb] being at my position, was able to give me some tips,” Tolbert said. “More so just taking it one day at a time, because overall my rookie year will be my longest year. And so, take it one day at a time."He Wants The Big Price

Tolbert's work ethic has impressed the Cowboys early in his career. But as much as he loves the spotlight, he's only in this for the big price:

"It is definitely a blessing and a perfect opportunity for you and the team. So just continuing to grow and not really thinking about the timeline, but just thinking about the work that you’re putting in and opportunities that you have to you go chase, you know, a Super Bowl," the rookie added.Dak Prescott Will Be Key In His Development

Tolbert has also reached out to Dak Prescott hoping to build some rapport before the start of the season:

“We’ve been able to build I would say, at least a stepping stool for quite a few points of chemistry,” Tolbert said.

Prescott will be in the spotlight again next year after some questionable performances in 2021. But if the Cowboys' OL manages to hold up and their rookie is as good as advertised, expect him to bounce back in a big way this season.
