Emma Stone has been confirmed to reprise her role for Cruella 2. The actress recently closed the deal with Disney and the sequel is now officially in the works.
The first Cruella, which was released in May 2021, was a big success. The movie received great reviews and earned over $ 233 million worldwide.
Thanks to its huge success, it didn’t take long for executives to give the sequel the green light.

Emma Stone Might Go Full-Blown Cruella
In Cruella, the audience got to see the origins of how this iconic character came to be. The sequel might focus on Cruella in full bloom, ready to conquer the world.
"I feel like we’ve only just met her. I’d love to now see the full-blown Cruella, fully loaded. She’s managed to get the support system around her and she can really expand on her brand. I’d love to see where that takes her and how you could almost destroy her from inside out, if she’s not careful with all that power." says director Craig Gillespie in an interview.
We’re Unsure If Mark Strong Will Return for ‘Cruella 2’
There’s no official word yet on which cast members will be joining Stone in Cruella 2, so we’re unsure if veteran actor Mark Strong will be returning to reprise his role.
However, the first movie had a very open ending, leaving a lot of space for his character to be written in.
Mark Strong was reportedly "fascinated" to work with Stone, so he’ll surely want to be included again.
"I was fascinated with her, how hard she worked. Because she has to carry that movie. And watching it, she’s just absolutely mesmerizing. " he said in an interview.
Will The Baroness Be Exacting Revenge in ‘Cruella 2’?
The ending of Cruella had the Baroness gritting in anger as she gets dragged into a police car. Cruella 2 could potentially feature the Baroness escaping from jail and getting her revenge against her former employee turned archnemesis.
We could also be seeing a plotline similar to 101 Dalmatians since the movie’s post-credits scene slightly hinted towards that direction.
With the two Dalmatians being gifted to Roger and Anita, they could mate and make 101 puppies.
‘Cruella 2’ Release Date
Cruella was one of the movies that were affected by the ongoing pandemic. Instead of an exclusive theatrical release, the movie was also released on Disney+ the same day it was shown in theaters.
There is no official word yet on when Cruella 2 will be ready but makers promise that the ball is already rolling. The sequel will likely be in development until 2024.
