Will fans of Virgin River be getting a fourth season of the hit romantic comedy on Netflix?
On the heels of the July 9 release of the series’ third season, a report from the Radio Times has confirmed that a fourth season of the romantic drama, which stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, as Mel and Jack, has not yet been officially confirmed.
That said, while the streaming service has remained silent, a number of clues have been shared in regards to the future of the show.
The ‘Virgin River’ Cast Will Reportedly Begin Filming Season Four This Month
As fans continue to speculate about who shot Jack, prompting Mel to nurse the bar owner back to health, a number of publications have reported that filming on season four is expected to begin soon.
According to one particular publication, Production Weekly, production on Virgin River season four is scheduled to begin in Vancouver, Canada in late July and expected to conclude in November 30, which means that a fourth season would most likely be released sometime after the start of 2022.
‘Virgin River’ Season Four Is Expected to Be Released By Summer 2020
According to the Radio Times, fans of Virgin River waited just under a year for the series’ second season to be released after season one. Then, they waited just seven months for season three.
The outlet went on to say that season four would be released on Netflix by summer 2022 at the absolute latest, if all of the reports regarding production are true.
As for who is expected to return to the show, Breckenridge and Henderson will surely be featured, and Colin Lawrence (Preacher), Lauren Hammersley (Charmaine Roberts), Annette O’Toole (Hope McCrea), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Dan Brady), Grayson Gurnsey (Ricky) and Sarah Dugdale (Lizzie) are expected to reprise their roles for the new episodes as well.
One Character May Not Return To ‘Virgin River’ For Season Four
As the Radio Times explained to readers, many fans would certainly like to see Tim Matheson (Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins) return for a fourth season as well. However, after being seen facing medical issues throughout season three, it’s hard to say if his character will live on.
Other characters that could be included in Virgin River season four are Zibby Allen (Brie), Stacey Farber (Tara), Nicola Cavendish (Connie), Teryl Rothery (Muriel), and Lexa Doig (Paige Lassiter).
As for what fans should expect to see from Virgin River‘s potential fourth season, showrunner Sue Tenney recently shared some clues.
What Will ‘Virgin River’ Season Four Entail?
During an interview with Us Weekly magazine, Tenney suggested that the mystery surrounding who shot Jack will spill over onto the new episodes of season four.
“There will be an arrest at the end of season three — but everything is not the way it looks. The story is not over with the arrest,” she teased.
Fans will also likely see more of Mel and Jack’s relationship as the couple contemplates the idea of having children.
Virgin River seasons 1-3 are currently streaming on Netflix.
