Los Angeles Clippers small forward Paul George is one of the superstars who could be available on the trading block in the 2021 offseason. George and the Clippers may be currently focused on fully dominating the loaded Western Conference and winning the NBA championship title in the 2020-21 NBA season but if they get eliminated in the first round of the 2021 Playoffs by the Dallas Mavericks, rumors surrounding the seven-time NBA All-Star are expected to heat up this summer.
Warriors Could Go All-In For Paul George
Once the Clippers start listening to offers for George on the trade market, several teams that are in dire need of additional star power are expected to express a strong interest in adding him to their roster. According to Jake Rogers of NBA Analysis Network, one of the teams that could go all-in to acquire George in the 2021 offseason is the Golden State Warriors.
Despite missing the playoffs for two consecutive years, the Warriors still don’t have any plan of undergoing a full-scale rebuild. Instead of immediately taking a different route, the Warriors are hoping to find a fourth superstar that would help Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green reclaim their throne and revive their dynasty next year.
Potential Trade Package To Get Paul George From The Clippers
To get a player of George’s caliber, the Warriors must prepare the pay the king’s ransom. In his article, Rogers came up with a hypothetical blockbuster trade idea that would enable the Warriors to acquire George from the Clippers in the 2021 offseason. In the proposed trade scenario, the Warriors would be sending a package that includes Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2021 first-round pick, Golden State’s 2021 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and the rights to swap first-round picks in 2025 to the Clippers in exchange for George.
Warriors Acquire An Ideal Replacement For Kevin Durant
George would undeniably an incredible acquisition for the Warriors. He may not be as good as Kevin Durant but compared to Wiggins, he’s more capable of filling the huge hole that he left at Golden State’s wing. George would give the Warriors another prolific scorer, as well as a great rebounder, playmaker, lockdown defender, and floor-spacer.
This season, he’s averaging 23.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from beyond the arc, per ESPN.
Paul George Would Welcome A Trade To Golden State
George would definitely love the idea of being traded to the Warriors, especially if the Clippers suffer another huge disappointment this season. In Golden State, he wouldn’t only be teaming up with one, but three All-Star caliber players who have made five consecutive Finals appearances and won three NBA championship titles.
George would still need to make certain adjustments with his game to make himself with Coach Steve Kerr’s system. However, once he meshes well with Curry, Thompson, and Green, the Warriors are expected to become a team to fear in the Western Conference once again next year.
