Hope for pensioners as inflation surges – how much could state pension payments rise to?

INFLATION has risen by 3.2 percent for the year to August, according to official data. This marks the biggest increase in the annual UK inflation rate since records began back in 1997. With the state pension triple lock suspended for the 2022/23 tax year, the rate of state pension will go up by the higher of inflation or 2.5 percent. That said, it’s not this month’s Consumer Price Index figure which is used to determine the increase to the UK state pension.
