Thousands of people crowded Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Tuesday for the country’s largest celebration. The festival honours Lord Indra, the Hindu god of rain, and the beginning of the harvest season. It features a parade of chariots carrying ‘living gods’ portrayed by children, masked dancers and tableaus.
