Jennifer Lawrence, most famous for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games films, was discovered 17 years ago in while visiting New York City’s Union Square with her mom, Karen.
During a 2017 interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC News, via MTV, the 31-year-old actress looked back on the moment that would ultimately change her life for the better.
As she told Sawyer, Lawrence, then 14, was approached by a man with modeling agency connections during her Big Apple getaway.

"My mom gave him her number because she didn’t know that was potentially dangerous and creepy, and then he called and said modeling agencies wanted to meet with me," she recalled. "And I made up my mind in the cab ride, I was like, ‘well, I’m only going to sign with a modeling agency if they’ll let me act.’ Which came out of nowhere… I was already negotiating."
While Lawrence was interested in modeling, she wanted to be sure her true passion, acting, would also be an option.
Jennifer Lawrence Didn’t Know If Marriage Was In The Cards
During another segment of her interview with Sawyer for ABC News, Lawrence said that while she wasn’t sure she’d ever get married, she knew she wanted to one day become a mom.
"I don’t know if I ever will get married. And I’m OK with that. I don’t feel like I need anything to complete me. I love meeting people. People coming into your life and bringing something," Lawrence explained.
But, as fans well know, Lawrence did go on to get married in 2019, when she said "I do" with Cooke Maroney.
Jennifer Lawrence Feels Amy Schumer Has Brought Something Special To Her Life
According to Lawrence, she didn’t feel the need to get married back in 2017 because she had other relationships that competed her, including her friendship with Amy Schumer.
"I didn’t know Amy [Schumer] six months ago, and she brings something into my life that’s so special. I don’t really plan on getting married. I might. I definitely want to be a mother," said Lawrence.
Continuing on about her friendship with Schumer, Lawrence said the two of them are protective over one another.

"We both have kind of a protection over each other — her because she’s … older than me, so she has the natural kind of protectiveness which comes with being older than somebody," Lawrence explained. "I’ve been famous longer than she has, so I feel a certain protectiveness in that sense. And we both are incredibly blunt and incredibly opinionated … I laugh out loud every single day. She told me she’d give me $ 100 if I called you Di the whole interview."
