Karlie Lain Gusé: California Teen Left Home & Never Came Back, Where Is She?

On the morning of October 13, 2018, Mono County, California native Richard Eddy saw a a young woman in a T-shirt walking past his home.

Around 8 a.m., a woman knocked on Eddy’s door asking if he had seen her daughter. Eddy answered affirmatively, and hopped on his bicycle to look for the girl, but he never found her.

That girl’s name is Karlie Lain Gusé and nobody has any idea where she might have gone or why — she is still missing.

More on this mysterious case below.

Marijuana

On the evening of October 12, 2018, then 16-year-old Karlie Lain Gusé attended a party with her boyfriend, Donald Arrowood III and smoked some marijuana.

This "triggered something" in her, according to Arrowood, since she became paranoid and called her stepmother Melissa to beg for a ride home.

"She was really pale, looked like a ghost. Her pupils were really dilated," Melissa said, per SFGate.

Once home, Karlie continued acting paranoid — she kept talking about having to read the Bible, bizarrely called a plate of salad "devil’s lettuce," and rambled.

Karlie Lain Gusé Disappearance

In her initial statement to the press, Melissa said she checked in on Karlie at 5:45 a.m. and found her asleep in bed and claimed that Karlie was then gone at 7:15 a.m.

However, Melissa has since changed her story and now claims she spent the night in Karlie’s room, but when she woke up at 7 a.m. realized Karlie was no longer there.

Whatever happened that night, Karlie was most certainly gone in the morning. Richard Eddy is the last person who saw her, it seems.

Search Begins

As soon as Melissa and Karlie’s father Zachary realized Karlie was missing, they began searching for her and canvassing the surrounding area. Then they alerted law enforcement.

Cops searched "along Highway 6 near White Mountain Estates Road and into the canyons and mountains beyond" but never found Karlie.

"I’m down to two things. I’m down to either she crossed that desert so far that nobody found her, or she was abducted. She got in the wrong car with the wrong person," Zachary told the FBI.

"My whole body and soul. I’d give it all up. Just to have her home safe," he added.

'People Don't Disappear Into Thin Air'

The FBI has made an effort to revive interest in Karlie’s case. Members of her family have appeared on a number of popular TV shows, which helped the story go national.

But there is still no trace of Karlie and no one has come forward with information that could help the authorities find her.

"We will not give up on Karlie. People don’t disappear into thin air," Special Agent in Charge Sean Ragan said.

As Fox News reported, the mysterious disappearance and death of Gabby Petito has reignited the public’s interest in missing person cases, including Karlie’s.
