Kirk Douglas fired Spartacus director for being ‘scared’ after on-set argument

SPARTACUS is one of the biggest, most epic films ever made. But before the iconic Stanley Kubrick took over as the film’s director, Kirk Douglas was forced to fire the original director, Anthony Mann. He later called Kubrick “a s**t,” who was not taken seriously by the cast at first.
