Kristin Chenoweth has just reacted to the recent news of Ariana Grande‘s addition to the cast of the upcoming Wicked film.
In a post shared to her Instagram page, which included a screenshot of a former post Grande shared on Twitter, as well as a throwback photo of the two of them many years ago, Chenoweth said she was proud of the singer and actress.
"I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this proud. From the very first day I met you (swipe to see!!), you were destined for this role," Chenoweth began.
Chenoweth Starred as Glinda
"Congratulations [Ariana Grande]! The best Glinda you will be with [Cynthia Erivo] by your side 💗💚 I love you!!" Chenoweth added.
As fans may have heard, Grande is set to act as Glinda, the Good Witch, in the upcoming Wicked film, the same role Chenoweth had when she starred in the Broadway production.
During her years-long stint, Chenoweth earned herself a Tony nomination for her rendition of Glinda, the Good Witch, who was first made famous by The Wizard of Oz decades prior.
Ariana Loves Kristin
After seeing that Chenoweth had made a post about her upcoming role, Grande took to the comments section of her fellow actress’ post to offer a response to her kind words.
"Words don’t suffice. I love you more than I can say, I always have and always will. and her. thank you for holding my hand," Grande wrote to Chenoweth.
As for the tweet Grande shared years ago, she had ironically mentioned that she had gone to see Wicked on Broadway and noted that Glinda, the Good Witch, was her dream role.
A Dream Come True
In the screenshot Chenoweth shared with her Instagram post, she included a tweet Grande had sent years prior, in which Grande applauded the Broadway production of Wicked as "amazing" and noted "how badly" she wanted to one day star as Glinda.
“Loved seeing Wicked again… amazing production! Made me realize again how badly I want 2 play Glinda at some point in my life! #DreamRole,” she wrote at the time.
Also in the comments section of Chenoweth’s post, several Instagram users weighed in.
Instagram Was Floored
"Wow," one person said. "What a beautiful representation of putting your goals into the universe and working hard towards a dream!"
Another fan wrote, "THIS post will take a lifetime to process," and a third said, "Full circle! Your blessing for this means the world."
A fourth shared a lengthier post.
"Glad she got ur seal of approval!" they wrote to Chenoweth. "Honestly a lot of people r unsure if Ariana can do it, but she was originally trained in musical theatre! She was in the original broadway cast of 13 the musical alongside Liz Gillies! And seeing as Kristen originated the role of Galinda and clearly approves and believes in Ariana, I will choose to believe in her too."
