MLB News: Rangers’ Adolis Garcia Extends Incredible Hitting Streak With Longest Homer Of His Career

The Texas Rangers haven't had the season they expected. Making a $ 500+ commitment in free agency wasn't enough to compete at the highest level, and they recently parted ways with manager Chris Woodard and president Jon Daniels.

But even amid a tough season, Adolis Garcia's offensive surge has been reason enough to keep tuning in and excited about the future in Texas.

It Was A True Moonshot

The Cuban outfielder was riding an impressive 19-game hitting streak and kept it alive in a big way, hitting the longest homer of his career (453 feet) to tie the game vs. the Minnesota Twins:

“I knew I had hit one 440 [feet] or something close earlier this year,” García said through his interpeter. “But I didn’t know [this one was a career high] until [Bally Sports sideline reporter] Lesley McCaslin mentioned it to me postgame.”Garcia Is A Dynamic Player

That moonshot helped his team orchestrate a huge comeback win over the Twins to keep their postseason hopes alive. Moreover, Garcia's versatility is slowly turning him into one of MLB's most exciting players:

“Adolis is a dynamic player,” interim manager Tony Beasley said. “That’s No. 1. When he puts his mind to something and when he's focused, he can do some special things on the baseball field in all aspects. So it doesn't surprise me, anything that he does.He Can Do It All

Garcia continues to check all the boxes and find ways to help his team, even when he's not hitting the ball 453 feet out of the park:

“Nothing that he can do on the baseball field surprises me, whether it’s a hit streak or making an unbelievable play or stealing bases," Beasley added. "He plays the whole game. He has that mindset about it. He can grab another gear when he needs it. He's just exciting to watch.”Garcia Is Thriving In Texas

Garcia turned his season around by changing his approach. He stopped chasing and started focusing on one thing at a time instead of trying to get it all back in a single at-bat:

“I think last year kind of took a toll on us, you know,” Garcia said. “..So this year has been a little different — the competition and whatnot has kept me going and kept the adrenaline going. I feel really good, and I’m just really content with where I’m at right now. I just want to continue doing what I’ve been doing. I’m not trying to do a lot, just trying to keep it simple mentally."

It's been a tough season, but that kind of grind shows promise for the future.
