Coming into the 2022 MLB season, everybody knew that the Toronto Blue Jays were going to be one of the top teams in all of baseball.
Despite those predictions, the Blue Jays have done exactly what everybody was thinking as they currently sit in first place of the American League East already with a 12-6 record and have won seven of their last 10 games.
Blue Jays Might Have The Best Lineup In Baseball
The main reason why the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the best teams in all of baseball and have a legitimate chance of winning a World Series is that they offer one of the best lineups in baseball. Guys like Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, George Springer, Matt Chapman, and Teoscar Hernandez are some of the elite hitters in their lineup, among many others.
If Toronto is going to be the team that everybody expects them to be, they're going to have to continue hitting at a high level. Although they do currently lead the MLB in slugging percentage, Torontos' offense hasn't even been as scary as it could possibly be in the near future.
Toronto's Rotation Is No Slack
The Blue Jays also have a legitimate rotation. In baseball, you can have the best hitting team in the world and if you don't have the pitching to back it up, your team isn't going to find the type of success that they're hoping for.
Toronto's newly-acquired ace pitcher Kevin Gausman has looked great in his first four starts with the team. He's currently 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP while striking out 31 hitters in just 24.2 innings pitched. In his last three starts, he's struck out at least eight.
American League East Is The Best Division In Baseball
The one thing that could potentially hold the Toronto Blue Jays back is if they go through a rough stretch during any part of the season. Considering that the American League East is arguably the best division that baseball has seen in quite some time, teams cannot go in slumps and expect to win the division.
If Toronto was to have a bad month, they can kiss their postseason hopes goodbye because the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Boston Red Sox are going to be right behind them in the standings.
Is A World Series Possible For Toronto?
When factoring in all of this information, there's certainly a possibility that the Toronto Blue Jays could win a World Series. At the moment, this team looks to be the best in the American League and if they can continue to swing the bat the way that they have, and stay healthy, Toronto has a legitimate chance of winning a World Series.
