A new installments of the successful Muppets franchise is coming to Disney+ in the form of a Haunted Mansion themed Halloween special.
Decades after the series was first launched by Jim Henson in 1955, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and their friends, as well as Skai Jackson and others, will be featured in a 49-minute special that will go down in history as one of the great Ed Asner’s final works before his death.
But this one will be based around the character of Gonzo.
When is the Release Date of Muppets Haunted Mansion?
Along with the official trailer for the Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween special, which was shared by Disney+ on YouTube on September 23, it was confirmed that the film would be released on Disney+ on October 8.
Currently, Disney+ requires a subscription, which means that if you want to watch this film, you’re going to have to sign up for their $ 7.99 mostly charge, or pay $ 79.99 annually to have full access to all of the films and series that Disney+ offers.
Who will be the main characters in Muppets Haunted Mansion?
In the Halloween special, the cast is as follows: Will Arnett as Ghost Host, Ed Asner as Claude, Darren Criss as The Caretaker, Yvette Nicole Brown as the Hearse Driver, Kim Irvine as Maid, Taraji P. Henson as Constance Hatchaway, Jeannie Mai as Maude, Alfonso Ribeiro as Fred, Chrissy Metz as Harriet, and John Stamos as himself.
Meanwhile, Skai Jackson, Geoff Keighley, Justina Machado, Craig Robinson, and Pat Sajak will be featured as singing busts.
Matt Vogel will also be featured as Kermit the Frog and Eric Jacobson will perform as Miss Piggy.
What is Muppets Haunted Mansion About?
In a press release for Disney+‘s Halloween special, the broadcaster shared a description of the film.
"The Great Gonzo – world famous daredevil artiste, has done it all, seen it all, and survived it all. But on Halloween night, the fearless Gonzo takes on the greatest challenge of his life by spending one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth …The Haunted Mansion," the release stated.
According to the statement, Muppets Haunted Mansion is inspired by all four of the Disney Haunted Mansion attractions found at Disney Parks across the nation.
The Cast Has Expressed Excitement on Twitter
Following his casting, Geoff Keighley took to his Twitter page, where he shared a happy announcement about his role.
"Can’t believe I’m finally allowed to type this! I’m so thrilled to have a cameo in [Disney+’s] upcoming Halloween special, [The Muppets Haunted Mansion] premiering this October! Much more to share in the coming months," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Darren Criss offered a spookier statement
"Take care foolish mortals cuz I’m care-takin’ with [The Muppets] for their Halloween special, [The Muppets Haunted Mansion] coming soon to [Disney+]. Check this grim grinning bro out to socialize," he wrote, via Collider.
