When he mutually agreed to part ways with the Houston Rockets last month, veteran center DeMarcus Cousins was hoping to join a legitimate title contender that could give him the chance to compete for the championship and the opportunity to showcase his talent in the league. Though it has already been more than a month since he was waived by the Rockets, Cousins remains optimistic that he could find a new home before the real battle begins in the 2021 Playoffs.

One of the teams that could take a chance on Cousins in the 2020-21 NBA season is the Boston Celtics. Since the 2020 offseason, rumors are circulating the Celtics are eyeing to improve their frontcourt depth. They recently tried to acquire Andre Drummond from the buyout market, but the veteran center ended up joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
After they failed to land Drummond, Evan Massey of NBA Analysis Network revealed in a Twitter post that the Celtics could go after Cousins.

Cousins may have gone through plenty of ups and downs in the past years but if he could prove that he’s currently 100 percent healthy, Nicole Ganglani of ClutchPoints believes that he would be a great addition to the Celtics.
“Cousins has faced multiple brutal injuries in his career specifically an ACL tear and Achilles hill. It’s been an injury battle for him throughout the years but what’s great is he’s back on the court this season. Adding Cousins to the Celtics roster could provide three-point shooting, leadership, space on the floor, and as mentioned above, depth in the frontcourt.”

However, if he performs well and manages to build good chemistry with franchise cornerstones Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Cousins would not only help the Celtics become a more competitive team in the Eastern Conference this year, but he would also give them a long-term answer to their major frontcourt problem.
