NBA Rumors: Nets Could Acquire PJ Tucker & Danuel House Jr. For Spencer Dinwiddie & Two Second-Rounders

The Brooklyn Nets are one of the teams that are seriously aiming to win the NBA championship title in the 2020-21 NBA season. To solidify their chances of achieving their main goal this year, the Nets gave up young players and multiple future draft picks to form a "Big Three" of James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant. However, though they are already the No. 1 favorite to capture the Larry O’Brien Trophy this season, the Nets don’t seem to be done yet in upgrading their current roster.

Nets Reunite James Harden With Two Former Rockets’ Teammates

One of the potential trade partners for the Nets is the Houston Rockets. In a recent article, Dan Favale of Bleacher Report created a list of trades that every NBA contender should consider before the March 25 deadline. These include the hypothetical trade idea that would enable Harden to reunite with PJ Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in Brooklyn.

In the proposed trade scenario, the Nets would be sending a package that includes Spencer Dinwiddie, a 2021 second-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick to the Rockets in exchange for Tucker and House Jr.

Why The Rockets Would Make The Trade

Although they would be giving up two healthy veterans for an injured one, the suggested deal would still make sense for the Rockets. Aside from acquiring two future second-round picks that they could use to add more talented prospects to their roster, they would also be receiving a "legitimate lead guard" in Dinwiddie.

"Still, the Rockets can explore rerouting Dinwiddie elsewhere, try to broker a sign-and-trade in free agency or just bring him back and hope his next deal ages well," Favale wrote. "Opportunities to bag a legitimate lead guard in his prime for a 35-year-old Tucker and Danuel House don’t come around very often. Dinwiddie’s torn right ACL—and prior injury history—is noteworthy but not a harbinger of doom."

Nets Boost Frontcourt & Defense

With the team currently in a win-now mode, the Nets wouldn’t definitely mind giving up two future second-rounders for two quality role players like Tucker and House Jr. The arrival of Tucker and House Jr. in Brooklyn would boost their frontcourt depth and defense.

Tucker would give the Nets a small-ball center, while House Jr. would provide them with a three-and-D wingman. Both veterans wouldn’t have a hard time making themselves comfortable in Brooklyn. Aside from the presence of Harden in their rotation, they also currently have their former Rockets mentor Mike D’Antoni as their assistant coach.

PJ Tucker & Danuel House Jr. Get Opportunity To Win First Championship

Despite how things ended between Harden and the Rockets, Tucker and House Jr. would definitely love the idea of reuniting with "The Beard" in Brooklyn. At this point in their careers, Tucker and House Jr. would prefer playing for a team that is bound to compete in the playoffs than wasting a season on a rebuilding team like the Rockets.

Playing supporting roles alongside the Nets’ "Big Three" of Harden, Durant, and Irving wouldn’t only give them the opportunity to play in the NBA Finals, but also a realistic chance of winning their first championship ring this year.
