Following a remarkable 14-year career in the NFL, the time has come for DeSean Jackson to consider what's next for him.
A big-play specialist with a history with a handful of franchises around the league, Jackson could still be a serviceable contributor for multiple teams, yet he's taking it day by day as he contemplates free agency.
Jackson Isn't So Sure About Coming BackJackson has posted 632 receptions for 11,110 yards and 58 touchdowns throughout his career, including five 1,000+ yard seasons. Moreover, he was lowkey quite productive for the Raiders and Rams last season, hauling in 454 yards. Now, he claims he's not ready to make a decision about coming back or not:
"I'm not really sure if I'm going to play next year or not," Jackson said in an interview with Ashley Nicole Moss. "I know I announced and said I was going to play. It's just really at this point where I'm at in my life, it's gotta be the right fit. My career's been one helluva ride."He Wants To Play With A Top-Tier QBFor him to come back, the perfect team and situation should come on knocking. For that, he claims that he wants to play for a top-notch QB, mentioning Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs as his first option. He also talked about Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, and Aaron Rodgers:
“If the right situation calls, a great quarterback, not just a good [quarterback]. There’s a few teams [I’d play for]: The Chiefs maybe one. The Browns. Russell Wilson in Denver. Green Bay… We’ll see for sure," Jackson added.Mahomes Predicts A Transition Year For Kansas CityThe Chiefs could certainly use another big-play threat after Tyreek Hill left the premises. Per Mahomes, this will be a transition year in which they'll have to learn on the fly:
“This is definitely going to be a transition year where we try to figure out how we’re going to have success with this team, it’s gonna be different than the teams that we’ve had,” Mahomes said.Chiefs Will Have A Lot Of PressureAll things considered, Mahomes and Travis Kelce will now have more pressure on their shoulders than they've ever had. Losing one of the top-tier wideouts and the fastest player in the NFL will certainly take a toll on their offense.
So, picking up the phone and making Jackson an offer wouldn't be that much of a far-fetched idea.
