NHL 1st major sports league to broadcast games in American Sign Language

A male American Sign Language interpreter poses for a photo after interpreting NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's annual state of the league news conference from English into ASL on June 15, 2022, at Ball Arena in Denver, Colo., before Game 1 of the league championship.

The Stanley Cup final, starting Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, will mark the first time a major sports league airs games in American Sign Language, with each game of the series between Edmonton and Florida featuring Deaf broadcasters doing play by play and colour analysis.
