For the past few weeks, rumors have been swirling in regard to potential cast changes on The Real Housewives of New York City, but what’s really going on?
Following reports suggesting Ramona Singer has been fired from the Bravo reality series after starring as a full-time cast member for the entire run of the show, and other rumors regarding the pushing back of the season 13 reunion taping, an insider claims producers are taking their time casting the upcoming 14th season.
‘RHONY’ Season 13 Was Supposed To Wrap Filming In August
On July 22, Us Weekly confirmed that while it is true that filming on the season 13 reunion has been pushed back, a new date for the taping has not yet been finalized.
As producers consider rescheduling the filming for sometime in September, an insider claims the team had previously hoped to wrap filming next month.
“They were looking forward to wrapping the show in August,” the insider explained. “It takes a lot of mental preparation to go into the reunion. They always film the reunion in August and usually start filming the new season in the fall. They don’t have a scheduled date for the new season.”
Big Changes Are Coming To ‘RHONY’
The report went on to reveal that as production prepares to wrap filming on The Real Housewives of New York City season 13, they are looking ahead to season 14 and considering big changes, with both the cast and production.
“There’s talk of a shake-up in the production company,” the source shared. “Let’s just say, nobody’s safe.”
“Producers don’t like the chemistry between the cast — and are wondering if they should go out with the old and in with the new,” the insider continued.
Tinsley Mortimer Could Return For ‘RHONY’ Season 14
"Sonja [Morgan], Luann [de Lesseps] and Ramona [Singer] are on the chopping block," the source noted."
As for what could be "new" on season 14 of The Real Housewives of New York City, the insider said Tinsley Mortimer "is in talks to come back."
“Producers are looking for new cast members,” a second insider shared. “They want the chemistry to be there so they’re taking their time searching and that’s why there has been a delay in filming.”
Although there have been reports claiming certain women of the show are nervous about potential axings, the first insider claimed that none of the OGs are afraid.
The ‘RHONY’ OGs Know They Bring A Lot To The Table
According to the source, the OGs of the series aren’t worried because they know the value of their fanbase.
"They’ve been through this before. If any of the OGs are fired, the show is likely to lose a lot of fans and the ratings would even be lower. The network is weighing all their options including putting the show on hiatus,” the insider explained.
