Seth Curry Analyzes Sixers’ Ben Simmons Drama

Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Seth Curry is one of the players who are campaigning for Ben Simmons to return to the City of Brotherly Love in the 2021-22 NBA season. Despite his disappointing performance in the 2021 NBA Playoffs, Curry still believes in Simmons and what he could do inside the court.

After threatening to sit until he is traded, Simmons has recently decided to rejoin the Sixers, giving a glimpse of hope that they could still fix their broken relationship.

Curry Knows Simmons' Reasoning

In a recent interview with reporters, Curry shared his thoughts on Simmons’ return and the ongoing drama surrounding his future with the Sixers.

“I already know the deal,” Curry said, as quoted by Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire. “I know his reasoning and what he wants to happen and I’ll be able to see once he steps on the floor, where his head’s at. I don’t feel like he needs to explain anything to me. He’s a grown man. He can do whatever he wants."

Seth Curry Focused On Himself

As of now, it remains unknown if Simmons and the Sixers would be able to fix the issue before or during the 2021-22 NBA season. Curry said that instead of worrying about the situation, he’s focusing on improving his game and preparing for the upcoming season with or without Simmons.

“I’m just out here focusing on what I need to do every day," Curry said. "Work hard, whoever’s in the gym, show up, and work and try to get better and try to win games on that day."

Will Simmons Play In Season Opener?

Despite recently joining the team’s practice, Simmons’ availability for the Sixers’ season opener is still a big question mark. According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers said they are still going to "wait and see and watch" if Simmons would play when they face the New Orleans Pelicans for their first game in the 2021-22 NBA season.

After missing the early weeks of training camp, Simmons would need time to familiarize himself with some of their new offensive schemes. However, Rivers is confident that Simmons can catch up and once again, start showing good chemistry with the team.

A Trade Is Still A Possible

Simmons may have rejoined the Sixers, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s no longer available on the trade market. As of now, he’s still one of the players who are highly expected to change teams before the 2022 NBA trade deadline. So far, Simmons continues to receive interest from legitimate title contenders that need additional star power and rebuilding teams that want to speed up their timeline.

Despite his shooting woes, the Sixers are still hoping to acquire an All-Star caliber player in any potential deal involving their disgruntled superstar.
