Surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton has been showing she’s living her best life – and stunning as she celebrates her 8th wedding anniversary. The 31-year-old pro surfer and actress made 2003 headlines for surviving a brutal shark attack leaving her without an arm, but it looks like the star is continuing to prove that having a limb bitten off doesn’t stop a life being lived well.
A recent Instagram post featured husband Adam Dirks, and Bethany stunned her fans with it.
Stuns On 8th Wedding Anniversary
Scroll for the photo. Bethany was 13 when she lost her left arm to a shark in Hawaiian waters. The star, who uses her feet to change her kids’ diapers – she shares three with husband Adam – posted for her 2.1 million Instagram followers earlier this month, sharing a grass-set walk shot as she and Adam linked arms.
Bethany, who does not hide only having one arm, wore a floral-print and flattering sleeveless sundress as she smiled, with Adam seen in a green-print shirt and dark pants.

‘The Ocean Can Be Scary’
Bethany, who welcomed third child Micah in February and shares photos of her three children on her Instagram, is fresh from a tweet speaking out about courage – and the ocean. Last night, she wrote:
"Being courageous isn’t pretending that bad things don’t happen or that real risks are all in our head. Being courageous is being honest with what we are facing & feeling & pushing on. The ocean can be scary," adding three tips that help keep her calm.
Sharing Her Calmness Tips
Speaking on the Behind The Shield podcast and sharing her thoughts on her website, Hamilton stated:
"First, I breathe and stay calm.Next, I talk to myself. Seriously! It helps a lot to get it out, talk it out, and remind myself of my training so that I can trust my preparation.I also pray. Prayer helps remind me that I’m not alone and it calms me."
Bethany’s shark attack left her losing 60% of her blood alongside her arm. By 2004, she was back on the board.
