Everybody in the NBA has had something to say about Kevin Durant's trade request. Some support him, some think he's running away; whatever the case, the Brooklyn Nets are still holding on to him.
That's not likely to change any time soon unless someone makes them an offer they can't reject. KD is one of the best players in the league and would require a historical asset return to acquire his services.
Nets' Asking Price Is Way Too HighThat's why NBA analyst Skip Bayless doesn't foresee a trade happening any time soon. The Nets want too much in return for KD, and they're not going to let him go at a discount:
“I do not believe as I said from day one that KD will be traded because I believe the Nets pretty craftily set an unattainable price on Kevin Durant," Bayless said on Undisputed, “It’s pie in the sky, it ain’t happening and this placates Kevin like well we think you’re so valuable that we want the sun and the moon and several stars back”Pat Riley Could Make A Master MoveBayless believes that the Miami Heat are the only team who could try and make a move at him at this point, all because Pat Riley wants to win at least another title:
“If anybody can figure something out like this in ways that to the naked eye you can’t see it. Trust me but, and by all accounts, he is feverishly working behind the scenes to try to figure something out (for Durant)," Bayless said. "I believe Pat thinks of Kevin what Jerry thinks of Kevin. In so doing, Pat says, ‘I wanna win at least one more title here before I’m finished, and the one guy who can do that for me the fastest is that guy. If in fact he’s available, I have to figure out how to go get him at any cost.”Some Teams Aren't So SureBut as high as Riley could be on Durant, that doesn't seem to be the league-wide sentiment right now. According to the latest reports, teams around the NBA have doubts about his ability to lead them to a ring:
“Everyone pretty much knows KD probably isn’t winning any titles, not without Steph (Curry), which is why no one wants to mortgage the farm for him," an NBA GM told Sam Amico of Hoopswire.Where Will He Play? So, eventually, something's gotta give. Either the Nets realize that they can't a massive haul for him, or Durant backpedals and decides to play ball in Brooklyn.
The Nets are in no obligation to comply with his trade request as he still has four years left on his contract. So, for now, it seems like he's not going anywhere.
